In an interview broadcast today by the French radio station France Inter, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, stated that he is in favor of ending the arms shipments to Israel that were used in the war in the Gaza Strip.
"I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop supplying weapons that lead the fighting in Gaza," he stated.
Macron noted that "France does not supply [arms to Israel]". This is after the French government said in January of this year that it supplies Israel with defensive weapons only.
During the interview, which was held on October 1, Macron stated that the "priority" is "that we return to a political solution" in the conflict in the Middle East. On top of that, he called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "listen" to what the international community is telling him.
