Starting yesterday, residents of Tehran and other districts such as Qom in the center, Kerman in the southeast and Ardabil in the north of Iran have to get used to self-initiated power outages for two hours during the day.
Power outages are carried out during peak hours between 9 am and 5 pm.
The initiated power outages program is designed to reduce electricity consumption due to a lack of fuel needed to operate the power generation stations.
The authorities said that the power outages will continue until further notice.
Apart from the lack of fuel, the decrease in electricity supply is due to the ban imposed by the government on the use of diesel for the purpose of operating the production stations due to the high level of pollution it creates. This stopped the work of three electricity stations in the country - Barak, Isfahan and Karaj.
