What began with a scan of a suspicious building in Khan Yunis quickly turned into a face-to-face encounter, which required creative thinking and cunning.ย
The extraordinary documentation - provides a glimpse of the moments of the battle from the eyes of the Maglan fighters, who with the help of grenades and drones eliminated 4 terrorists.
Maglan's raiding party, commanded by Major G, operated deep in the Gaza Strip, and recorded achievements in special operations - in no small part thanks to its new and deadly capabilities, which involve the use of precision missiles.
In the incident in question, their mission was focused on clearing the south of the refugee camp in Khan Yunis, a significant fighting area. The forces enter and advance towards him, splitting into 2, with each team starting to scan a different floor. As Major G, leads them, the troops find a yard, and at the same time they hear a bunch of shots towards them.
They realize that they are under attack and immediately take control of the incident: "We identify where the shooting is coming from, move a large refrigerator and reveal a hidden basement behind it. We throw a grenade into it - and the first terrorist is eliminated."
"We have achieved operational control, but it is still not clear who is in the room. I am starting to calculate risks, and build an action plan," he repeats, "A combat helicopter will not help, after all, the terrorists are underground. The building will indeed collapse, but it is not certain that they will be eliminated." Meanwhile, tactical drones are 'monitoring' another terrorist, who is shooting at them.
The commander realizes that they must think outside the box - they blow open a hole in the wall with the help of a breaching frame, send a drone to verify the elimination, and see the terrorist lying with a weapon in his hands.
THE NEXT DAY, WE DISCOVERED TWO MORE TERRORISTS THAT WE ELIMINATED IN THE SAME BATTLE
"The commander of the team approaches the entrance, a few seconds pass and a bunch of shots are fired at him," describes the MP, "a fighter throws a grenade in the direction of the terrorist, and the rest of the team is already starting to evacuate - at a speed I have not encountered before."
They decide to break through another opening, at the moment, the warehouse has 3 of them, and inside - the terrorist. The commandos confuse him with the drones, so as not to endanger more fighters.
The action, which began in daylight, continues even in the dark. The fighters light large lanterns on 4 drones, shoot from two holes towards the other side of the compound and at the same time emerge from behind through the fourth hole and deceive the enemy. They throw grenades at him and ensure a kill.
The commander decides to detach himself from the compound temporarily, and return to search the basement in daylight. "The next day," he describes, "we discovered two more terrorists that we eliminated in the same battle, a living space, a lot of ammunition, vests and combat equipment. All this while we were upstairs - it was residential building".
"You learn a lot from this combat," Major G points out, "you practice the terrain, improve your way of thinking in real time and learn new tactics every day, and most importantly - understand how to be a better commander for your fighters."
