Following President Trump’s announcement of the US withdrawal from the council, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar declared that Israel would follow suit.
This body is obsessed with attacking a democratic state while promoting antisemitism, Saar stated, adding, Israel will no longer tolerate this discrimination. He pointed out that the number of resolutions against Israel in the council exceeds those against Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea combined.
Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced Israels withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council, following the US lead.
Saar praised President Trump for his decision, stating that the council obsessively demonizes the only democracy in the Middle East.
He highlighted the overwhelming number of resolutions targeting Israel, far exceeding those directed at any other country, and declared: Israel will no longer accept this discrimination.
Israel commends President Trump for his decision to leave the UN Human Rights Council, Saar wrote. We stand with the US and are leaving as well. He further asserted, The UN Human Rights Council has a long standing tradition of shielding human rights violators from scrutiny while relentlessly vilifying Israel.
He went on to say, This body has focused on attacking a democratic nation and spreading antisemitism instead of advancing human rights. The discrimination against us is blatant Israel is the only country that has a permanent agenda item dedicated exclusively to it.
In the councils history, Israel has faced over 100 resolutions more than 20 percent of all decisions made exceeding those against Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea combined.
Saar concluded by reaffirming Israel will no longer accept this discrimination.
Earlier this week, President Trump announced that the US would withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council and freeze funding for UNRWA.
