This documentation from October 7, at the maritime border of the Gaza Strip - commemorates the moments when the calm and the waves of the sea became a scene of war.
The Ashdod base's control panels detect a number of hostile rubber boats that have penetrated the Israeli border. Fin fighters from party 916 are launched into space, and conduct a stubborn battle against the terrorists.
As soon as they heard the missiles that morning, the fighters went to sea. "We realized that SAGs (rubber boats) had crossed the border from the Strip, and we rushed to their area," recounts Sergeant Idan, a fin fighter, "we stood in front of them face to face - and opened fire."
"When the terrorists were a few meters away from us," he recalls, "we positioned ourselves in a hidden area, and shot at them with a 'Typhoon' cannon. We hit, the boat's engine exploded and they jumped into the water."
The battles at sea are complex, the waves constantly change the course of the terrain, and the location of the targets moves accordingly: "In order to hit, we must remain stable, and focused on the threat."
Because of the constantly changing battle layout, sometimes the interval between success and failure is a few seconds. It is enough for the terrorist to put his head in the water - and the projectile will splash over him: "In those moments I knew I had one chance to hit, before he dives - and I must not miss it."
"We continued with combined fire against them," sharpens the fighter, "I on the 'Mag' (machine gun), and the rest of the team with bombs and the M4 weapon. Thanks to our training and routine work, we were synchronized, and despite the complex conditions - we managed to eliminate them."
