The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, considered the mouthpiece of the dictator from Istanbul, is once again issuing threats on the Cyprus issue and of course bringing Israel into the issue.
According to the newspaper, American support for the (Greek) government in the southern part of the island, under the guise of “strategic partnerships” and military cooperation with countries such as Israel and France, poses a significant risk to regional stability.
Turkish Cyprus (occupied by Turkey and recognized by no nation besides Turkey) has repeatedly warned that these actions could disrupt the delicate balance of the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to recent media reports – Greek Cyprus is trying to integrate Israel’s air defense system itself and has begun efforts and discussions to join NATO – “Such attempts ignore NATO’s principle of unanimous decisions for new membership and reflect the mistake of Southern Cyprus, which is being reinforced by its allies.”
Meanwhile, Trump has stated in recent days that “the United States and Cyprus are going to expand the ties between the countries.”
In the conversation, which was held by Trump and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, they highlighted the significant progress achieved in recent years in areas such as security, investment, the economy, humanitarian aid and crisis management in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The leaders defined their common goal of expanding and strengthening the strategic relationship between Cyprus and the United States. They stressed the value of the ongoing strategic dialogue, which aims to benefit both countries and contribute positively to the stability and prosperity of the region.
