The Iranian Foreign Minister tells secrets about Nasrallah and what he advised him days before his assassination.
On the forty-day anniversary of the assassination of Nasrallah, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Arakji, revealed some secrets related to the security measures taken to protect Nasrallah, and details of the last days between the two men before he was eliminated.
Israel assassinated Nasrallah last September 27, by bombing the headquarters of the party's leadership in Beharet Harik, with more than 80 bombs penetrating the fortifications.
ARAKJI WAS IN NEW YORK
Arakji said in a video interview for the "Hamas Khawan" program published by the Iranian Student News Agency on Tuesday: "I was in New York and I went to the general assembly. I was there when the news came about the death of Hassan Nasrallah. A friend of mine sent me news of a heavy explosion in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and I hoped it wouldn't be bad. "I followed the news moment by moment, and unfortunately the news was confirmed."
Arakji revealed that he had planned to meet Nasrallah before his assassination, but the one who prevented him was Nasrallah himself, who asked him not to rush because of the security risks.
He added: "I regret it now, I wish my trip had taken place" to meet him.
MEETINGS BETWEEN ARAKJI AND NASRALLAH
Arakji said in an interview that he met Nasrallah for the first time after the July 2006 war. At that time, Nasrallah went to Tehran and there he told about his memories of the war. "The master was very nice and good. There were many nice meetings with him here," adds Arakji.
For the second time, Arakji visited Beirut in the midst of the nuclear talks between Tehran and the United States (without mentioning any round of talks).
"I had a mission to go to Beirut," he says. "I sat with him from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and talked about the details of the negotiations."
He revealed that he met Nasrallah on the fifth floor of a building inside a residential complex. There, when he went up in the elevator, he saw the security personnel placing a board in front of him, and when he asked them why you were doing this, they answered and said: "This is a residential building and we don't want anyone to see you if the elevator opens."
Argachi concluded by saying about Nasrallah's personality: "You don't feel strange sitting with him. He has a good soul and is fun to talk to. "He was truly a legend, and some legends become more blessed after they are gone."
