In recent years, Abu Hatzirah served as the personal military aide and right-hand man of senior Hamas figure Izz al-Din Haddad, commander of the Gaza Brigade of the Hamas terrorist organization. This was throughout the war and in preparation for the terrorist attack on October 7.
