As a ceasefire agreement in Gaza approaches, Palestinian sources are reporting that Fatah's refusal to establish a joint committee to manage the Strip with Hamas is not due to an ideological dispute, but rather a dispute over money - LOTS OF MONEY.
According to reports, the joint committee that Egypt is promoting was supposed to operate through a fund into which money from all over the world would flow for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, under Egyptian and Qatari supervision.
The Palestinian Authority is vetoing the matter. They don't want Hamas members on the committee to have any access to the funds. They also don't want Arab oversight.
A Fatah source is quoted as saying: "Every pound that goes into Gaza, we want it to go to the Finance Ministry in Ramallah." The source added: "(Fatah's) only concern is what will happen to Gaza's money, especially the reconstruction money."
