Republicans are gaining ground in two crucial U.S. House races that could determine control of the 119th House of Representatives.
In California's 47th Congressional District, an internal poll for Republican Scott Baugh shows him leading Democrat Dave Min, 43% to 40%, with Baugh gaining support among independents, Hispanics, and white voters. Min has dropped five points since September, while Baugh has gained one.
Among independents, Baugh leads 41% to 37%. He also holds a 45% to 31% advantage among Hispanic voters and a 47% to 37% lead with white voters. Male voters favor Baugh 45% to 38%, while women slightly prefer Min, 43% to 41%.
National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ben Peterson attributed Baugh's support to concerns over the economy, crime, and border security, stating, “Voters are ready for change.”
Meanwhile, in Alaska, polling shows Rep. Mary Peltola (D) trailing Republican Nick Begich in the state’s congressional race. An internal poll indicates 49.1% support for Begich compared to 44.5% for Peltola. As candidates are eliminated in Alaska's ranked-choice voting, Begich's support rises to 52.1% against Peltola's 47.9%.
