The Bibas brothers held dual Israeli-Argentinian citizenship through their father, Yarden Bibas.
Argentinian President Javier Milei declared a national day of mourning for the Bibas brothers, Ariel and baby Kfir, who bodies are expected to be returned to Israel on Thursday.
In a post on X/Twitter, Sabrina Ajmechet, the president of the Argentinian Human Rights Committee, mourned Kfir and Ariel Bibas, who had dual citizenship through their father:
"Two Argentinian babies were murdered because of Hamas terror," Ajmechet wrote. "I hope I never have to hear again that what happens in Israel and Gaza is not a concern for all Argentinians."
Shiri Bibas was born and raised in Kibbutz Nir Oz, Israel. Her father, Yossi, immigrated to Israel from Argentina at the age of 18, and her mother, Margit Silberman, was born in Peru to a mother who had fled the Holocaust.
