Israeli spy satellites detected ballistic missile movements from Iran to Iraq, prompting a sharp Israeli warning to Baghdad.
Reports indicate an escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran as a result of the activities of pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, which are increasingly attacking Israel with drones and other weapons. According to a report by the Times of Israel, Israel has identified targets in Iraq that it may attack if these attacks continue.
Unidentified sources reported that satellites monitored attempts to transfer ballistic missiles and other equipment from Iran to Iraq, which are suspected to be used in an upcoming attack on Israel. Israel sent a warning to Baghdad demanding to curb these militias and prevent them from using weapons smuggled into Iraqi territory to attack it.
In recent weeks, drone attacks from the direction of Iraq have increased, with about five attacks per day by armed militias linked to Iran. During the last week, eight drones were launched in a period of only 24 hours, and American forces and their partners managed to intercept these attacks.
In view of this escalation, officials point out that the continuation of the attacks may push Israel to react directly against these threats, which will increase the possibility of expanding the conflict into Iraqi territory if the attacks continue from there.
ISRAELI SATELLITES
Israeli satellites are considered an essential part of Israel's security and surveillance system, as they are used to gather important intelligence information about military activity in the region. The most prominent of these satellites is the Ofek series, which are spy satellites focused on monitoring what is happening in the neighboring countries, mainly Iran, Syria and Iraq.
Israeli satellites stand out for their ability to take high-resolution images, whether at night or during the day, thanks to advanced radar and infrared technologies, which enable target monitoring even in bad weather conditions. It also cruises at a relatively low altitude, which gives it better accuracy in detecting movements.
In addition to the Ofek series, Israel has military communication and information gathering satellites, such as the Eros satellite, which is used for commercial, civilian and military purposes.
Ofek and Eros are among the most popular Israeli reconnaissance and intelligence satellites, and each of them has special features that help achieve security and strategic goals.
