Israel did not acknowledge the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in the heart of Tehran on July 31 of this year, even though the popular propaganda in Iran itself and in the countries of the world is that it is the one behind the assassination. The Iranian regime directly accuses Israel of being responsible for the act.

Intelligence sources in the West say that the assassination of Haniyeh while he was staying at the guest house of the Iranian "Revolutionary Guards" is another victory for the Israeli Mossad among the "mind war" it manages against the "Revolutionary Guards" indicating intelligence penetration at the highest levels of this body.

The "Revolutionary Guards" are the most powerful military body in Iran subordinate to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and are his execution arm, among other things they control the "Quds" force which is responsible for the operations of Iranian affiliates in the Middle East and also the "Basij" forces which are made up of volunteers and whose mission is to keep the peace the public and suppress the opponents of the regime.

The assassination of Haniyeh in the heart of Tehran shocked the Iranian regime. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the matter. Even Iran's official news (propaganda) agency, Fars, admitted that this was a dangerous intelligence intrusion by Israel with the aim of harming the new Iranian government.

The Iranian newspaper "Jumhori Islami" called the assassination with the words "a dangerous security intrusion in Iran that reflects the weakness of the teams that were responsible for the security of the individuals."

Intelligence experts in the West estimate that the Israeli Mossad prepared the operation to eliminate Haniyeh for several months. Apparently he regularly stayed in the same room on the fourth floor of the official guest house of the "Revolutionary Guards" whenever he visited Iran.

In their estimation, the Israeli Mossad agents followed him for a long time and managed to recruit senior officers in the "Revolutionary Guards" who provided them with the necessary intelligence, for huge sums, and even planted the explosive devices in Haniyeh's bedroom in a sophisticated manner so that he would not be able to discover them. On the day of the assassination, the explosive devices were activated by remote control at 1:37 in the morning after the assassins videotaped that he was indeed sleeping in his room. His bodyguard, Wissam Abu Shaaban who guarded the room from the outside, was also killed as a result of the explosion.

According to intelligence sources in the West, the guest house of the "Revolutionary Guards" is located on a mountain in a secure security area where there is a training base called "Imam Ali" belonging to the "Quds" force.

It seems that through the assassination, Israel wanted to convey a clear warning message to Iran that it is capable of intelligence-wise penetrating all of its security organizations and hitting any high-quality target at any time it wants.

As far as Iran is concerned, this is an action that constitutes a serious violation of its sovereignty and national security. This elimination also undermines the sense of security of the people of Iran who now cast great doubt on the regime's ability to protect them if it gets involved in a war with Israel.

On the Iranian street, there are those who link Haniyeh's assassination to the death case of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir Abdel-Lahyan, who were killed in a mysterious helicopter crash in Iran on May 19 this year. There are those who are convinced that it was an assassination operation by the Israeli Mossad, even though Iran officially announced that it was an accident.

The "Revolutionary Guards" are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of Ismail Haniyeh's assassination and have arrested about 30 suspects, including senior officers and employees of the guest house where the assassination took place, as well as confiscating mobile phones and computers and examining videos from the security cameras at various locations.

In the meantime, the "Revolutionary Guards" stated that the assassination was carried out by means of an anti-tank missile launched from the outside at the apartment where Haniye lived and denied the publication in the "New York Times" that the explosion occurred as a result of three explosive devices that were planted in the place about two months ago and were activated by remote control.

The assessment among security officials in Israel is that Iran is trying to obscure the circumstances of the major security failure and claim that it could not have prevented the assassination. Intelligence sources in the West estimate that the Israeli Mossad is aided by members of the Shiite opposition organization "Mujahideen Hulk" (MEK).
