Homs province: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has obtained a copy of a video footage showing a group of civilians being humiliated and receiving inhumane treatment, after having been arrested by members of the general security forces in Al-Sabil neighbourhood in Homs city.
The video footage showed security members forcing the arrested civilians to bray and firing bullets in the air to intimidate them, while driving them in a humiliating way, which is more akin to “Shabiha-like” behaviour practiced by members of the former regime.
The reprehensible practices by some members of the general security forces have triggered broad public anger, especially since those members underestimate residents in the neighbourhoods which have recently experienced security operations.
Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that a new security campaign was launched by the Military Operations Administration and the Ministry of Interior Affairs in Damascus government in the neighbourhoods of Al-Zahraa, Al-Abbasiyah, Al-Muhajereen, Al-Arman, Jeb Al-Jandali, Al-Sabil and Karam Shamsham and Al-Sitten street in Homs city.
During the campaign, which targets members of former regime forces, individuals refusing to strike reconciliation deals and groups that did not hand over their weapons, security forces combed the region and stormed houses in those neighbourhoods, amid strict security measures.
Meanwhile, the Military Operations Administration released the writer “Ali Mu’in Saleh,” after having been arrested during the security campaign which was launched yesterday in Akramah and Wadi Al-Zahab neighbourhoods in Homs city. The Military Operations Administration also released 20 other detainees, after having struck reconciliation deals.
