Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection is working with the Trans-Israel pipeline for the treatment of the land and its rehabilitation due to an oil leak south of the Ramon crater in the Negev on the company’s pipeline.
According to the company’s report to the ministry, the leak occurred from an attempted theft of fuel.
So far, about 40 tons of contaminated soil have been evacuated from the spill area.
In an inspection tour that took place on Wednesday July 11, the ministry’s inspectors gave additional instructions for the rehabilitation of more contaminated lands and their treatment.
The Ministry is investigating the incident and will act as required.
