In a statement obtained by *Fox News* on Saturday, the White House said the measure was in response to an "extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs, including deadly fentanyl," which it classified as a national emergency.
"President Donald J. Trump is implementing an additional 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and an additional 10% tariff on imports from China. Energy resources from Canada will face a lower 10% tariff," the statement read.
