Abu Muhammad al-Joulani (or his real name is Ahmed al-Shara), the leader of the rebels in Syria and the one who appears to be the next ruler of Syria, in his first statements in which he refers to Israel and regional issues:
"We are not going to enter into a conflict with Israel. Israel intended to invade Syria because of the Iranian presence there - but now it has no need for that."
About the Iranians, he said: "What happened in Syria is a victory over the Iranian project, which is dangerous for the entire region."
NEWSRAEL: It may be that Joulani can be taken at his word. The question remains: Will Joulani run the "new Syria", or will his HTS be superseded by a much more extreme faction?
