In an interview he gave to Barak Sari and Yehuda Schlesinger on 103FM, military commentator Yossi Yehoshua (Yediot Aharonot, i24) said that those who supported the launch of Operation Beeper and a broad war against Hezbollah were Prime Minister Netanyahu and the head of the Mossad.

On the other hand, Defense Minister Galant and Chief of Staff Herzli Halevi opposed the move.

At the heart of Gallant and Halevy's claim was their fear of Iran's involvement in the fighting (which, as is well known, ultimately happened with the launch of hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel after the assassination of Nasrallah - Sofer).
