Israel attacked Iranian targets in the Tadmor region of central Syria. What were they really after?
At least 36 were killed, including a Syrian general and more than fifty were injured as a result of Israeli bombing of targets in central Syria, according to a new report from the Syrian Ministry of Defense.
A military official in the Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that Israel launched an air attack from the Al-Tanf area at the junction of the Syria-Jordan-Iraq borders, attacking a number of buildings in the city of Palmyra in the Syrian desert, which caused the death of 36 and the wounding of more than 50 others, while causing significant material damage to the target buildings and the environment.

The sounds of explosions were heard today, Wednesday, as a result of an Israeli bombardment of targets in the city of Tadmur in the eastern countryside of the Homs district in central Syria.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that "the sounds of explosions heard in the city of Palmyra resulted from Israeli aggression that attacked residential buildings and the industrial area of the city."
The Sham FM news site said, "The aggression against Palmyra was aimed at points in and around the city," noting that a number of civilian buildings within the city of Palmyra were damaged as a result of the bombing.
Recent reports indicate that a senior Syrian officer, Brigadier General Abdullah Ahmed Al-Zeer, was killed today in the Israeli strikes on targets in Tamdor. The Syrian officer was posthumously promoted to the rank of general.
If you want a translation what was actually said on the Syrian websites into a more realistic and less fabricated language, then this is how the report should be:
- Israel attacked Iranian and Hezbollah targets in the Tadmor region of central Syria.
- The military airport of Tadmor is under full Iranian control with the help of Hezbollah.
- Suicide drones and medium-range ballistic missiles were brought to the scene from Iran, that then attack Israel.
- Today's attack was aimed at destroying an array prepared for an Iranian attack on Israel that they intend to carry out from Syria and Iraq.
