The pressure in Lebanon from explosions of communication devices continues and perhaps intensifies. The Qatari airline Qatar Airways announced yesterday that all passengers from the Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut are prohibited from carrying any pager or walkie-talkie.
The company announced on Thursday: "Based on the instructions issued by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation in the Republic of Lebanon, all passengers from Beirut from Rafik Hariri International Airport are prohibited from carrying any pager or walkie-talkie device on board the plane."
The Qatari company explained that this ban "applies to both registered cargo and carry-on cargo, as well as to air transport", and stated that "this ban will be implemented until further notice".
Yesterday, the General Director of Civil Aviation in Lebanon prohibited companies operating at Rafik Hariri Airport in Beirut from placing any pager or walkie-talkie on board the planes.
In a circular to airlines, the director said: "You are requested to inform all passengers departing through the airport that until further notice, it is prohibited to carry any pager or walkie-talkie on board the plane."
