New, IMPORTANT details about the Israeli attack in Yemen and the investigation of the Houthi drone that hit Tel Aviv:
1. In discussions on the approval of the targets of the attack, it was decided in Israel to hit two locations in the port of Hodeidah and near it - the first is the energy infrastructure - about 20 fuel storage facilities were attacked, most of them inside the port complex and some storage facilities that the Houthis placed near the port.
The second focus is the port's goods unloading capabilities - Israel deliberately attacked cranes and cranes whose job it is to unload the goods from the ships to the dock. The assessment in the security system: the port's ability to receive goods has been completely shut down. The meaning - the Iranians will not be able to deliver ammunition to the Houthis by sea in the near future, this axis has been damaged. The fire that burned there yesterday is expected to continue burning in the coming days as well.
2. An initial investigation of the UAV strike in Tel Aviv reveals that the Houthis accurately used civilian flight paths - and flew their attacking UAV through these routes, as an attempt to deceive. Security officials estimate: this may be what led to the mistaken assessment that it was a non-hostile tool.
3. Assessment: The Saudis were informed in advance by Israel about the expected attack in Yemen. Apparently, the Air Force planes passed through the airspace of Saudi Arabia in a significant part of their flight path on the way to Yemen, and it can be estimated that this required a direct update of the Saudis on the expected attack. (The Saudis have officially stated that their airspace was NOT used in the attack)
4. In Israel they understand that the possible meaning of the attack in Yemen is entering into a prolonged and direct round of blows against the Houthis.
A senior security official tells us: "After the UAV hit Tel Aviv - we realized that now the whole region is looking at us - both Nasrallah in Beirut and Khamenei in Tehran, and we had to project strength towards the whole region - even at the cost that this would lead to a continuation."
If we did nothing - there would be a price for it, because others would also get ideas. It is very possible that we will have to attack again in Yemen several more times soon.' And the senior assessor continued: "One should not expect that this attack will solve the Houthi problem. It is difficult for us to predict what the Houthis will do in response - but we estimate that they will take more actions, things have changed.'
5. After an investigation in Israel - it turns out that there is no connection between the drone sent by the Houthis to Tel Aviv and the drone intercepted at the same time from the east of Israel, most likely from Iraq. The understanding of the Israeli security forces: there was no coordination between the two militias in their action.
