Documents from the ongoing clashes and exchanges of fire between the Palestinian security forces and the armed terrorist organizations in the Jenin refugee camp.
We haven't seen such images in Jenin for many years, especially battles like this which has been going on since before dawn.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) is trying to regain control here that they lost in Jenin (and in other places in northern Samaria) a long time ago, and despite the extraordinary operation they are currently conducting there - it is doubtful whether this will be enough to achieve real control of the place.
There are serious terrorist organizations in Jenin that will not give up so easily.
In this context, it is interesting to note a few more points:
1. The IDF has not operated on the ground in the Jenin refugee camp for more than two weeks. It seems that the mechanisms are currently being given a chance to try and act and show the Americans what they can do.
2. This effort by the PA security does not come at a coincidental time - but rather against the backdrop of two central issues: the fall of the Assad regime in Syria and the Palestinian Authority's fear of losing its control over the Palestinian cities in Judea and Samaria, as happened to Assad; and of course the question of the alternative government to Hamas in Gaza, and the Authority's desire to demonstrate its ability to govern and control, in order to gain a future foothold in Gaza as well.
Muhammad Hamdan, Fatah Secretary in Nablus, tweeted in light of the events between PA members and terrorists in Jenin:
"The Palestinian security establishment will eliminate anyone who insults and harms our people and their struggles."
Meanwhile, PA security officials are reporting that so far they have arrested 11 armed terrorists and 5 more have surrendered themselves and their weapons to the PA.
