Possible escalation: Unprecedented defense reinforcement in Israel amid indications of military action against Iran.
Arab Defense Website, April 6, 2025: Recent developments on the ground indicate the possibility of carrying out an attack on Iran with American-Israeli participation. This scenario becomes more likely in light of the significant defense reinforcement that Israel has witnessed in recent days, which have been described as "historic and unprecedented" in terms of size and diversity.
According to knowledgeable sources, two batteries of the American PAC-3 Patriot system have been transferred to Israel, along with at least one battery of the advanced THAAD system, as part of improving Israel's ability to deal with any possible Iranian response if the Iranian nuclear program facilities were targeted.
The air defense systems currently deployed within Israel are:
• Two Patriot PAC-3 systems: designed to intercept short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.
• Two THAAD systems: have a combined capacity to intercept approximately 96 ballistic missiles, and operate at a higher interception layer.
• 4 “Arrow” systems: capable of dealing with 110 to 140 ballistic missiles, and are designed to counter long-range threats.
• 4 to 6 “David’s Sling” batteries: designed to intercept cruise missiles and medium-range ballistic missiles.
• 9 to 12 “Iron Dome” batteries: specialize in intercepting short-range missiles and artillery shells.
In addition, Israel has placed squadrons of hundreds of fighter jets on high alert, capable of performing missions to intercept drones and cruise missiles in the event of a comprehensive attack from several fronts.
The current movements of Israeli anti-aircraft systems may be interpreted as advance preparation for any potential Iranian escalation, or as an indication of an imminent attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, a scenario that could ignite a large-scale conflict in the region.
