NBC national political correspondent Steve Kornacki noted on Sunday’s episode of “Meet the Press” that recent polls indicate former President Donald Trump is currently leading Vice President Kamala Harris.
Kornacki remarked, “In the past few days, we’ve observed a trend – not all polls are included, but we’ve seen four polls in the last four days that show slight, yet potentially significant, movement in Trump’s favor given the competitiveness of this race.
While I don’t want to exaggerate, it’s difficult to overlook these four. For instance, a recent CNBC poll shows Trump ahead by two points, and a Wall Street Journal poll has him up by three. These figures are national averages. CNN and The New York Times show a tied race, while CNN also indicates a tie. The key takeaway here is the broader movement toward Trump.”
He continued, “To provide some context, let’s take a look at our current national polling average, which I’ll display on the screen. Harris still holds a national lead, and we want to emphasize that. However, as we’ve been tracking weekly, her lead was at three points just a couple of weeks ago and has now decreased to 1.2 points due to the recent polling data I mentioned.”
