Reports: Israel is considering establishing a security zone in Syria and flanking Hezbollah from the east to streamline the land blockade of arms and terrorists.
Informed Syrian security sources reported to the news site "Suria TV" that "Israel is seriously considering establishing a security belt (on its eastern border in the north) that would extend from the north of Quneitra, starting from the city of Alba'at, and passing through Khan Arnaba, Jabata al-Khashab and Hader, to the outskirts of Beit Jan and the Hermon area in the Damascus countryside under the control of the Syrian regime.
The purpose of this step is to gain military superiority over Hezbollah, which is stationed in southern Lebanon, and to better monitor Hezbollah's weapons smuggling route through the Al-Baqaa area.
According to the Syrian website, Israel will be able to open a new battle front against Hezbollah from Syrian territory, and will deprive them of the topographical advantages (height difference) on the border with Syria, which provide it with freedom of movement.
According to the same sources, it is not impossible that Jordan will also take the initiative and do the same in southern Syria, the area that extends from the Yarmouch basin to the Nassib area northwest of Jordan's border with Syria.
In recent weeks, intensive movements of the Jordanian army have been noticed in the northern border area, which suggests preparations for unknown reasons.
But it is likely that Amman fears an escalation as a result of the unrest in the southern Syrian region, especially if the Israeli army does cross the Syrian border.
