This beautiful baby girl should be getting ready to turn 25-years-old. But exactly 24 years ago this day (March 26), a Palestinian sniper shot 10-month-old Shalhevet Pass while she was sitting in her stroller near a public playground in Hebron.
The brutal, targeted murder of an infant 22 years before the horrors of October 7 really shook Israeli society.
After all, it came only months after peace seemed imminent at Camp David. But Arafat walked away from a deal for a Palestinian state that would have included nearly all of the West Bank and Gaza with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Another reason Israelis don’t trust the PA any more than they trust Hamas: Shalhevet’s murderer, a beast named Mahmud Amru, though rotting in jail, has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars under the PA’s “pay for slay” policy.
In fact, Amru was a member of Tanzim, a terrorist group that answers directly to Fatah - the party of Arafat, and now of Abbas.
