Stef Wertheimer who passed away today was an Israeli billionaire industrialist, investor, philanthropist and politician. He was a member of the Knesset, and is known for founding industrial parks in Israel and neighboring countries.
Here is the message the PM wrote on his social media accounts:
"My wife Sarah and I express our deepest sorrow upon receiving the news of the passing of Stef Wertheimer, may his memory be blessed – a man of industry, vision and the Land of Israel.
Stef was one of the builders of the state and a pillar of Israeli industry. In his love for his homeland, he chose to establish factories in the Galilee and the Negev – not only to produce produce, but to build a future. He believed that economic activity in the country was Zionist activity in every sense.
Stef left behind a legacy of initiative, of giving and a deep belief in the power of man to create and do good.
On behalf of myself, my wife and the Government of Israel, I send my sincere condolences to his family and all his loved ones. May his memory be blessed."
