Australian Diplomat Summoned by Iranian Embassy Over ‘Queer’ Social Media Post
Australian ambassador to Iran Ian McConville was summoned to the foreign ministry office in Tehran, after sharing a post on the Australian embassy’s official Instagram account celebrating “Wear It Purple Day” in honor of “LGBTQ” identity.
“The content published by the Australian embassy is insulting and contrary to Iranian and Islamic tradition, customs, and culture,” the Iranian foreign ministry reportedly responded.
Sky News Australia host James Macpherson asked how LGBTQ activists reconcile their support for Iranian proxy Hamas with Iran’s anti-gay laws.
“This should give Queers for Palestine something to ponder,” he said.
