BREAKING: OVER 50 YEARS LATER: IDF finds parts of crashed IAF helicopter

Closing the circle after more than 50 years:

On April 27, 1974, an IAF Super Farlon (Wasp) helicopter was scrambled to evacuate wounded from the Metolim position on Mount Hermon in Syria. 100 meters before landing, it spun and crashed.

6 fighters were killed, 4 of them from Squadron 114, and two more from Squadron 386 (669 had not yet been established).

This week, after the IDF regained control of the area, fighters from the Shaldag unit found the helicopter's main relay at the accident site and over the weekend managed to bring it to Israel. The families of the fallen were informed and were very excited.

The Eitan unit continues to scan the area in search of additional findings from this event and other battles that took place at that time.
