Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Communications Task Force to monitor international media reports on Israel
Jerusalem, 11 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- On Tuesday, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar inaugurated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Communications Task Force.
Immediately upon assuming office, Foreign Minister Sa’ar directed the establishment of the Communications Task Force with the goal of monitoring international news and media channels and creating an immediate response to anti-Israel media appearances.
The Task Force covers approximately two hundred and fifty news channels, handles approximately ten thousand news items on Israel issues per day, identifies false or biased news items that could create a media ‘fire’ and acts quickly to provide a response through Israeli and pro-Israeli spokespeople who will refute accusations and present the Israeli narrative.
The task force is staffed by diplomats and students specializing in international communications and has already begun a pilot program in recent weeks.
Already in the first weeks of its operation, the task force has recorded significant success: The Foreign Ministry’s media task force was the first to alert and act – even before the broadcast – on the subject of the BBC documentary film based on the son of a Hamas deputy minister.
Following the information received from the task force, the Israeli embassy in London took action against the BBC, and later, an investigative journalist exposed the connections of the film’s participants to Hamas.
Ultimately, the BBC was forced to remove the film from its broadcast schedule, apologize, and is currently considering opening a criminal investigation against the BBC on charges of transferring funds to Hamas as part of the work on the film.
