The White House statement on the telephone conversation between the US President, Joe Biden, and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu:
President Biden spoke earlier today with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
The president reaffirmed his ironclad commitment to Israel's security, following the successful defense operation against Iran's unprecedented missile and drone attack earlier this month.
The two also reviewed the ongoing talks for the release of the hostages, along with an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The president addressed his statement with 17 other leaders from around the world, demanding that Hamas release their citizens without delay, to ensure a ceasefire and relief for the residents of Gaza.
The President and the Prime Minister also discussed increasing the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza, including through preparations for the opening of new crossings in the northern Gaza Strip, starting this week. The President emphasized the need for the progress of this activity, in order to increase the arrival of aid, in full coordination with humanitarian organizations.
The leaders discussed Rafah and the president reiterated his clear position.
